South African Aussie Double

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday November 8
Two Australian bred three year-olds by More than Ready (USA) and Medaglia D'Oro (USA) posted a winning double at Vaal in South Africa on Tuesday for the Mike de Kock stable, both of them purchased from the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Jazaalah as a yearlingFirst to salute was More Than Ready filly Jazaalah, who won over 1000 metres by a length at her second run having finished second on debut at the same venue last month.

A full sister to Group I placed Huegill, Jazaalah was bred and offered for sale by Turangga Farm fetching $310,000 at Inglis Easter when snapped up by Shadwell Stud.

She is the fourth winner from South African Group I winner Trust Antonia (SAfr), a sibling to two more South African Group I winners in Successful Bidder and Gold Flier.

Trust Antonia was sold as part of the Inglis run Turangga Farm Dispersal earlier this year fetching $100,000 to the bid of Avesta Bloodstock.

Making it a double was Medaglia D'Oro gelding Marmook, who scored his second win from four starts when scoring over 1000 metres by a length and a half.

A $160,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum from the Corumbene Stud draft, Marmook is from Emissary, a daughter of Group I winner Heart Ruler from the family of dual Group I winner Egg Tart.
