Flemington
was not the only location for stakes racing on Cup Day with the Listed WATC
Burgess Queen Stakes at Ascot in Perth producing a quinella for Widden Stud's
flagship sire Sebring led by unbeaten filly Mikimoto.
A homebred for Bob and Sandra Peters prepared by Grant and Alana Williams, Mikmoto
had won her two previous starts and was sent out favourite for this 1400 metre
contest for three year-old fillies.
She powered home to win by three-quarters of a length over Sebring filly Art
Series and has now won $105,600 in prizemoney.
Mikimoto is a half-sister to Group III winner Cosmic Storm and is one of five
winners from Group III winner Stormy Nova, a daughter of Metal Storm (Fr).
Mikimoto is the 34th stakes-winner for Sebring, who is working
through a full book this spring at a fee of $66,000.
