Bivouac Brilliance

Joe Carbone - Thursday November 30

A beast on the track, the best of Bivouac was as good as the best we’ve seen over the short course in the modern era.

A winner of just shy of $6 million in prize money which includes the G1 Golden Rose and G1 Newmarket Hcp, but arguably he’s best win came in another of the G1’s the VRC Darley Sprint Classic where he showed a pulverizing turn of foot down the Flemington straight making the hairs stand tall for the racing purist.

When a son of the great Exceed and Excel goes to stud, astute breeders around the globe take note, especially with a Darley pedigree that has been finely curated over decades. A sire that needs absolutely no introduction, when it’s all said and done Exceed and Excel will go down as one of the best stallions ever.

Another of those with champion status is Bivouac’s broodmare sire More Than Ready (USA), a globetrotting wonder stallion responsible for in excess of 2,100 individual winners and 200+ stakes winners at a strike rate of 73%.

More Than Ready’s influence as a broodmare sire has to be seen to be believed, fast approaching 100 individual stakes winners, he is the sire of the dams of Coolangatta, Shinzo, Forbidden Love, King Colorado, Miracles Of Life and champion HK sprinter Wellington to name a few. I think by now you get the picture.

Bivouac's dam Dazzler has thrown two stakes winners and is out of G1 AJC Sires Produce Stakes winner Camarilla, herself responsible for champion filly 4x G1 winner Guelph and Todman Stakes winner Ghibellines.

Furthermore Camarilla’s dam Camarena also a G1 winner is a full sister to Watchful who is the dam of champion colt Sepoy. It just goes on and on, there are more champions if you dig a little deeper but I’ll leave that one for the curious types to look into.

Bivouac has his first yearlings at sales in 2024.

Bivouac’s oldest progeny are yearlings and from the foals I have seen come through he looks destined to carve out he’s very own touch of greatness.

The first of he’s yearlings will hit the sales ring in January, 38 of his finest will be offered at the Magic Millions sale on the Gold Coast. It will be mighty Interesting to see how they are received by the market but I expect they will be a major hit.

Greatness lives on.
