Star Witness South African Double for Shadwell

Star Witness featured at Turffontein in South Africa on Saturday with a winning double of three year-olds, both owned by Sheikh Hamdan's Shadwell Stud and trained by Mike de Kock.

Shufoog as a yearlingFirst to salute was three year-old filly Shufoog, who scored over 1160 metres on debut as favourite by three and a quarter lengths.

A $300,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Shadwell from the Widden Stud draft, Shufoog is a full sister to brilliant Group II winning sprinter Star Turn, currently covering his first mares at Vinery Stud.

She is the fifth winner from five to race from Group III winner Golden Delicious.

Bringing up the double for Star Witness was three year-old colt Mujaafy(pictured below) , who also won easily over 1160 metres by more than three lengths and has now won two from two.

He was a $210,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Widden draft for Shadwell and is a full brother to stakes-winner Pearl Star from good producer Pearl of the Ocean.
