Nicconi a Newsmaker on Saturday

Tara Madgwick - Sunday November 19

Widden Stud stalwart Nicconi had an interesting Saturday featuring as a broodmare sire with his first Group I winner when Magic Time won the Group I MRC Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and at Ascot in Perth he added a new stakes-winner to his tally when Amber Glide won the Listed WATC Jungle Mist Classic (1200m).

Amber Glide carried a picket fence of three straight wins in easier grade into her first Black Type assignment and the Ross Price trained mare rose to the occasion.

She charged to the line out wide to score by nearly half a length and has the overall record of six wins f rom nine starts and over $225,000 in prizemoney.

Retained to race by her breeders, Amber Glide is a half-sister to stakes-winner Arctic Stream and is the second stakes-winner among four winners from stakes-winner Royal Devotion, who also won in the Listed WATC Jungle Mist Classic in 2009.

Royal Devotion is a half-sister to Group II winner Colour Correct from Group II winner Never Blue and after being covered again by Nicconi last spring has produced a full brother to her this year.

Amber Glide is the 28th stakes-winner for Nicconi, who stands at Widen Victoria at a fee of $22,000.
