One to Watch – Gosford

Tara Madgwick - Thursday November 2
Gelding might be the making of this Pierro three year-old, who resumed from a spell to score a strong finishing win at Gosford on Thursday for the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable.

Cajetan as a yearlingCajetan showed little in two starts in May and June, but looked far more committed to the cause this time around travelling just off the lead and finishing hard to beat the hot favourite Highly Influential by a short half head in the 1200 metre maiden.

A $200,000 Magic Millions purchase for Domeland from the Coolmore draft, Cajetan is the first winner from Group III placed Lucky Angel, a sibling to Group winners Sportsman, Prisoner of Love, Hoystar and stakes-winner King of Prussia.

He is the 13th Australian winner this season for Golden Slipper winner Pierro, who is closing in on $1million in seasonal earnings.

The champion son of Lonhro is priced at $49,500 at Coolmore this spring.
