Pedigree Potential – NZB Ready to Run – Nicks That Click

Arguably the hottest sire at the Flemington Cup Carnival last week was Zoustar and the NZB Ready to Run Sale features two youngsters bred the same way as his three Flemington stakes-winners – Ozzmosis, Mumbai Muse and Schwarz.

All three of these Zoustar stakes-winners are from mares by Danehill line sires and he is one of the few sires that does really well with the double Danehill and 27 of his 45 SW’s are bred that way including four of his six Group I winners.

Of those 27 Zoustar stakes-winners with double Danehill, six are double Redoute’s Choice and they include $1.25million colt Schwarz, who won his first stakes race at Flemington over 1400m at just his third start.

Zoustar has three entries for NZB Ready to Run and two of them have the double Danehill cross.

Lot 106 is a Zoustar colt from Lombardia that breezed in a slick 10.37 seconds.

Lot 106 from Phoenix Park is a colt (first foal) from Lombardia, a blueblood Sebring sibling to Group I winner Levendi and Group III winners Wu Gok and Marcel from Madrid. He galloped in a slick 10.37 seconds.

Zoustar has had eight winners from nine runners out of mares by Sebring and also worth noting the double cross of Redoute’s Choice in this pedigree. Zoustar has produced six stakes-winners from mares carrying Redoute’s Choice blood including his Group II winning mares Haut Brion Her and North Star Lass in addition to boom colt Schwarz.

Lot 190, a gelding from Riversley Park that is the second foal of Group III winning Magnus mare Princess of Queens, a full sister to Group III winner Prince of Brooklyn. He galloped in 11.31 seconds.

Zoustar has had three winners from six runners from mares by Magnus and the best of them is his Group I winning $1.8million earner Mizzy.

Pride of Dubai was another sire to shine at Flemington with rare dual Group I winner Pride of Jenni and the top class Group II winning mare Deny Knowledge (IRE). He will have very few yearlings at 2024 sales due to a small foal crop in 2022, so that does add interest to his one and only entry for NZB Ready to Run.

Lot 331 from Curraghmore is a half-brother to Group III place Blue on Black and two more metro winners being from good producer Arlington Rock, whose sire Fastnet Rock produced the dams of four individual stakes-winners at the Flemington Cup Carnival – Amazonian Lass, Queen of the Ball, Cause for Concern and Mumbai Muse. He galloped in 10.88 seconds.

Arlington Rock is a daughter of Group I winner Arlingtonboulevard and the Pride of Dubai x Fastnet Rock nick has produced stakes-winner Queen of Dubai and three more Black Type placed performers.

The 2023 edition of the Sale will take place at the Karaka Sales Centre from 11am (NZT) on 22 & 23 November with Breeze Ups to be held at Te Rapa Racecourse on 16 & 17 October. Click here for the full catalogue.
