Greg Polson previews Goulburn Monday July 24

Greg Polson - Monday July 24

The Matthew Dale stable has a winning strike rate at Goulburn of more than 37 per cent for the last year and the hot-strike rate looks set to continue at the Southern Tablelands track on Monday.

The Canberra based Dale’s profile available here on Racenet suggest the stable is a force to be reckoned with wherever he takes horses tasting success at each of the metropolitan tracks in Melbourne and Sydney including two Group wins but of the tracks where the Dale stable has had more than eight runners Goulburn is clearly the most successful venue in terms of winning strike rate.

Dale will saddle up three runners at Goulburn on Monday with each having undeniable chances in their respective races.

Punters can expect a sharp improvement from the French import Believer who will be having her second run back from a break in the Doyles On The Beach Maiden Handicap (1600m).

Believer was prominent in betting resuming at Wagga on July 9 but struggled on a heavy (9) surface.

It is worth noting Believer improved considerably second-up last campaign when runner-up at wagga stepping up to the mile.

The mare looks set to get an uncontested lead on Monday and will take plenty of running down.

Backless resumes without a trial in the JCF Contracting Benchmark 60 Handicap (1300m) but showed plenty of promise in her first preparation winning at Wagga on debut with her only defeat coming in a Highway Handicap at Rosehill when she was backed from $13 to $8 and had no luck.

If the money comes on Monday it will be well worth following.

The betting is likely to tell the tale for Dale’s remaining runner at Goulburn, the first starter Whisky’N’Diamonds in the Wedding Event Specialist Maiden Plate (1300m).

Whisky’N’Diamonds showed enough in an open trial at Goulburn on July 7 when runner-up and any moves for the two-year-old in the betting markets should be respected.

The Dale runners lose nothing with Jason Collett riding each of the runners.

Collett has all but wrapped up the Goulburn Jockeys' Premiership leading by three wins coming into the last meeting of the season at a winning strike rate of 34 percent.
