The juvenile event at Ascot in Perth on Saturday was won by promising Churchill (IRE) filly Golden Vale, who saluted in the famous navy blue Coolmore colours.
Trained by Simon Miller, Golden Vale was sent out favourite for the 1000m scamper off the back of a recent barrier trial win and coasted home to win by nearly two lengths with Willie Pike in the saddle.
Golden Vale was bred in Victoria by Dorrington Farm, but offered at the Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale by Willow Dale Farm as agent where she was snapped up by Simon Miller/ Tom Magnier for $130,000.
Golden Vale runs for Coolmore and partners and is their first winner in Western Australia. She is the third winner for Magnesic, a winning Magnus three-quarter sister-in-blood to stakes-winner Malibu Style and daughter of stakes-winner Born Western.
She is the first juvenile winner of the new season for Churchill, who recently sired his first Australian Group I winner when Attrition captured the Group I MRC Toorak Handicap.
A champion miler by Galileo, Churchill is back at Coolmore Australia this spring at a fee of $22,000.
