Inglis Premier Sale-Topper Breaks the Ice

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday October 18

I Am Invincible colt Mojave Desert topped the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale for Widden Stud when purchased by Tom Magnier for $950,000 and he cast off maiden status with a well-deserved win at Caulfield on Wednesday.

Trained by Chris Waller and ridden by Damian Lane, Mojave Dancer was fifth at his two most recent starts in stakes races won by subsequent Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas winner Griff, so relished a drop in grade for this Benchmark 70 event over 1600m.

He finished with a well timed run to score a neck win, his first victory from eight starts with three frustrating second placings and nearly $150,000 in prizemoney.

“He’s obviously been racing in stronger grade and he appreciated the drop back in class and appreciated a soft run in transit,” said Damian Lane.

“Everything opened up at the right time and he was too good.”

Mojave Desert topped Inglis Premier in 2022 selling for $950,000.

Mojave Desert was bred by Sun Bloodstock and is a full brother to Group placed Covert Ops being the fourth winner from five foals to race from Group III winning Casino Prince mare Fine Bubbles, who traces back to Supaburn, so this is the family of Everest hero Yes Yes Yes and dual Group I winner In Her Time.

Fine Bubbles was sold for $450,000 at the 2022 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale to Springmount and has a yearling colt by I Am invincible.
