Coolmore's
Golden Slipper winner Pierro kept the ball rolling on Tuesday when siring his
sixth winner in the past four days with a Kilmore success for Meazza.
Stepped up in trip to 1450 metres, the Matt Ellerton and Simon Zahra trained gelding
found the journey to his liking and powered clear to win by two lengths.
A $40,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Ellerton Zahra Racing from the Waratah
Thoroughbreds draft, Meazza is the first winner for Floor Show, a metropolitan
winning Stravinsky (USA) mare from the family of French Group I winner Alberto
Giacometti.
Meazza is the 11th Australian winner this season for Pierro, who
leads the Australian Second Season Sires list by earnings and has two
stakes-winners on the board in Pinot and Satin Slipper.
The Champion Australian First Season sire of 2016/2017, Pierro is picking up
where he left off and stands this spring at a fee of $49,500.
