Arrowfield Stud Announce Sad Death of Alinghi

Tara Madgwick - Monday October 23
Arrowfield Stud have taken to Twitter to announce the tragic loss of their star broodmare Alinghi, the Champion 3YO Filly of 2004-2005.

Twitter - Sad to announce our wonderful and much loved Alinghi died foaling. A 4-time G1W, Alinghi had six foals inc. this 2016 filly by Deep Impact.

The first superstar for champion sire Encosta de Lago, Alinghi had just turned 16 and was in foal to Not a Single Doubt, but sadly the foal did not survive either.

Alinghi produced six foals for Arrowfield and partners, two of which have won including Line Honours, who has produced two stakes horses in Extra Olives and Regatta Rebel.

Sent to Japan in 2015, she produced a lovely filly by Japanese sire sensation Deep Impact last spring.

While Alinghi has yet to produce a horse blessed with her own freakish ability, her legacy will live on through her daughters, several of them in addition to Line Honours already at stud for Arrowfield.
