Greg Polson Preview and top two bets for Lismore

Greg Polson - Monday October 23

It's looks a tough day at the office with a heavy track posted for Lismore on Monday but there are still a couple of solid bets on the program.

The track may be heavy at Lismore today but Greg Polson is still ready to attack.

Stewards conducted a track inspection at Lismore early Monday morning classifying the track as a heavy (10) but deemed the surface safe for racing.

Proven ability on wet tracks is the key feature for our best bets on the seven-race card.

AD FINEM (Race 3 No 4) .

A last start win on a heavy (10) track at the Sunshine Coast suggests the Trevor Rogers-trained Ad Finem can go back to back with similar track conditions in the Northern Star Class 2 Handicap (1516m).

Ad Finem led all the way at the Sunshine Coast to win a class two handicap with 56kg last time out and looks a weighted special with the same weight back to a country NSW class two with Jackson Morris in the saddle.

WAR JET (Race 6 No 3)

War Jet, from the Rodney Hurley stable at Beaudesert has won three of his five starts on wet tracks and will take plenty of beating in the Classic Wallabies VS Barbarians 24 Oct Lismore Open Handicap (1400m).

Despite a solid winning record with eight wins from 28-starts War Jet hasn't been in the placings in four runs this time but will relish a drop in grade on Monday after contesting Brisbane Metropolitan classified races at each run this preparation.

Four times a winner at 1400m, War Jet returns to the trip after failing to run out the mile at Doomben last time out and is in Monday's assignment with a winnable weight after the 1.5kg claim for Jackson Murphy.

With conditions to suit on Monday, War Jet rates as a standout bet.
