Aussie Double at Turffontein

Australian bred horses featured in a winning double at Turffontein in South Africa on Saturday with wins for Alshibaa and Alfolk, both horses raced by Shadwell and trained by Mike de Kock.

Winning on debut by two lengths over 1200 metres was three year-old Street Cry (IRE) colt Alshibaa, a homebred for Shadwell that was foaled and raised at Yarraman Park.

Alfolk as a yearlingHe is the second foal and second winner for Asheerah, a winning Redoute's Choice daughter of Group I winner Rewaaya, a half-sister to the dam of Group I BRC Doomben Cup winner Sense of Occasion.

Winning a graduation plate over 1000 metres by a length and a quarter was stakes-placed three year-old Lonhro gelding Alfolk, who was posting his third victory from seven starts.

A $380,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Shadwell from the Sledmere Stud draft, Alfolk is the best of two winners from Alteza Real, a three-quarter sister by Exceed and Excel to Group I winner Shinzig from Group I winner Shindig.
