More Stakes Success for Record Priced Al Maher

Tara Madgwick - Sunday October 22
Purchased for $320,000 by Belmont Bloodstock from the Yarraman Park draft at the 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Al Maher mare Silverstream is the most expensive yearling for her sire ever sold and showed again why she was worth the money when powering home to win the Group III WATC Northerly Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

Having her second run for new trainer Adam Durrant, Silverstream improved on her first up second in Listed company two weeks ago to score a neck win in the 1400 metre feature.

Silverstream as a yearlingThe victory takes her overall record to seven wins and five placings from 23 starts with prizemoney now topping $400,000.

Silverstream runs for popular WA based owners Bob and Sandra Peters and is a full sister to Group III AJC Adrian Knox Stakes winner Speedy Natalie.

Foaled and raised at Yarraman Park, she is one of seven winners from stakes-winning Brocco (USA) mare Speedy Bell, who is also the dam of stakes-winner Calanda.

Speedy Bell died last year and her final foal, a colt by I Am Invincible, made $320,000 at Inglis Easter this year when snapped up by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Silverstream is the second Group winner this season for Aquis Farm's Al Maher joining Classic Uniform. The superbly bred son of Danehill stands at Aquis Farm Murrurundi at a fee of $13,200.
