Greg Polson Preview and top three bets for Wyong

Greg Polson - Sunday October 22

The win of Kaonic at Randwick on Saturday and a jockey change suggests we should give a Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained three-year-old a second chance at Wyong on Sunday.

Greg Polson will be teeing off on one in the sixth at Wyong on Sunday.

Kaonic is a group horse in the making and there is little doubt we will see him at Flemington in Cup Week.

It took the length of the Canterbury straight for Kaonic to run down our best bet when they clashed two runs back.

DELOS (Race 3 No 6)

Delos opened up a big lead at Canterbury on October 4 when ridden by Rachel King leading by close to six-lengths straightening and was still three-lengths clear at the 100m but the gelding couldn’t withstand the finish of Kaonic.

Delos led at Wyong last start and seemed to have every chance weakening over the latter stages to finish less than two-lengths from the winner All Too Huiying.

Delos was restrained in the lead last start when ridden by Adam Hyeronimus and speculating with Rachel King back in the saddle we will see a return to the free-running style which Delos appears suited too.

If that’s the case he will take plenty of beating.

TURNBERRY (Race 6 No 6)

The Stella Artois Oncourse Now Benchmark 60 Handicap (1600m) looks a race in two between the John Thompson-trained Krystal ($2.70) and Turnberry ($2.80) from the Kris Lees stable after both contested races at Hawkesbury on October 8.

We have to judge the merits of a maiden win over 1600m in the case of Krystal versus a class one second for Turnberry.

Krystal relished the step up to the mile and had plenty on the maiden field but confident the runner-up finish of Turnberry behind Grand Finalist had more merit.

Grand Finalist led all the way running approximately seven-lengths quicker than the fillies and mares maiden winner on the day over the same trip – Our Belisa.

There was no disgrace in the effort of Turnberry finishing second and with still plenty of scope for improvement at just his third race start is the horse to beat.

TRUST ME (Race 7 No 7)

Successive trial wins at Beaumont would suggest the Brett Partelle-trained Trust Me is primed for a first-up win in the Magic Millions At Wyong Dec 21 Benchmark 72 Handicap (1200m).

A winner of successive races at Gosford and Newcastle back in May, Trust Me resumes from a 12-week break between races on the back of three placings including metropolitan thirds at Warwick Farm.

Trust Me has the early speed to take advantage of a perfect barrier draw (2) and should be too good for his rivals.
