Breednet Follow the Official Sydney 2YO Trials - Heats 7- 9

Tara Madgwick - Monday September 18

All 2YO heats this morning run at Randwick over 850m until Heat 5 when reduced to 845m.

Heat 9 – Colts – Scampi – 49.36 seconds

In recent years the Maher and Eustace stable have had a habit of producing an exceptional two year-old at the Sydney trials and they did it again this morning with Blue Point (IRE) colt Scampi scoring a visually very impressive trial win. He jumped fast, led and controlled the race, looking comfortable throughout and when allowed a little rein by Jason Collett moved clear to win easily.

Scampi was a $750,000 Magic Millions purchase.

A $750,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Bhima Thoroughbreds draft for Ciaron Maher Bloodstock, Scampi was the second highest priced yearling by his sire. Bred by Robert Crabtree's Dorrington Farm, he is is a half-brother to fast stakes-winning juvenile Semillon from Sistonic, whose third dam is blue hen Scandinavia so it’s the Black Caviar, All Too Hard and Ole Kirk family.

Heat 8 – Fillies – Runaway Vixen – 50.38 seconds

Zoustar fillies quinella in this one with both fillies trained by Gai and Adrian, Runaway Vixen led for home and held off the bigger and stronger Zoubelle in a good go to the line.

Runaway Vixen was a $370,000 Magic Millions purchase.

A $370,000 Magic Millions purchase from Widden Stud for Bennett Racing/Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing, Runaway Vixen is the second foal of stakes-winning Foxwedge mare Fox Swift from the family of Group II winning mares Pay My Bail and White Moss.
