Exciting Debut Win for Winx Half-Sister by I Am Invincible

Tara Madgwick - Friday September 15

A modest three year-old fillies maiden at Geelong on Friday attracted some serious blue-bloods and the result delivered an impressive debut victory for Time of My Life, the half-sister by champion sire I Am Invincible to champion mare Winx.

A homebred for her breeder John Camilleri of Fairway Thoroughbreds, Time of My Life is prepared by Peter Moody, who knows a thing or two about champion mares having shaped the career of undefeated world champion sprinter Black Caviar.

Time of My Life has been taken along quietly, but had done enough in jump outs for the stable to be quietly optimistic and she more than delivered on potential.

She settled off the pace for Luke Nolen and chimed in at the furlong to power past the leaders and win the 1112m maiden by a length and three-quarters.

“That was lovely and the manner in which she went about it was very pleasing,” said Peter Moody.

“She’s always shown good quality from day one this filly and I think that’s as good a maiden as we’ve had in Victoria for the past 12 months, not only in terms of pedigree but ability. She’s done a good job, so hopefully it’s onwards and upwards.

“I was keen to get a run into her today as we have the Scarborough Stakes, three year-old fillies Group 2 in a fortnight, and I’ve got that sort of opinion of her.”

Luke Nolen was also full of praise for a filly that carries a heavy weight of expectation.

“I was pleased today when I asked her to come off the bridle and chase she did and she looked more than good doing it,” said Nolen.

“She won’t be just winning a maiden on that.”

Time of My Life was a beautiful baby, foaled and raised at Segenhoe.

Foaled and raised at Segenhoe, Time of My Life is the fifth winner from five foals to race from celebrated producer Vegas Showgirl (NZ), the dam of not only four time Cox Plate winning legend Winx, but also Group III winner El Divino.

Now 21, Vegas Showgirl has a two year-old filly by Pride of Dubai called Taleitaki that has been given to Michael Freedman to train and her lightly raced winning four year-old mare City of Light (by Deep Impact) is in work with Joe Pride and barrier trialled earlier this week.

She missed to Extreme Choice in 2021, so has no yearling and was covered last spring by Snitzel.
