G2 Winning Zoustar Filly North Star Lass to Sell on Inglis Digital

Media Release - Monday September 4

North Star Lass (Zoustar) – one of the best credentialled 3YO fillies of a stunning crop that featured the likes of In Secret, Zougotcha and Sunshine In Paris – has been entered in the Inglis Digital September (Early) Online Sale.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trainee wasted little time announcing her above-average racetrack ability, scoring a decisive debut victory as a 2YO, beating group performing males Basquiat and Alpha One over 1100m at Warwick Farm last March.

But it was as a Spring 3YO that she surged into the upper echelon of fillies in Australia.

North Star Lass defeated the likes of G1 winners She’s Extreme and Madame Pommery and Group winners Paris Dior and Seven Veils when winning the G2 Furious Stakes over 1200m at Randwick, a race won previously by the likes of Angst, Sunline, Unworldly, Streama, Winx etc.

She then stepped up to G1 company at just her sixth career start and finished a close-up 3rd in the Flight Stakes, with only G1 winners Zougotcha and She’s Extreme ahead of her and the likes of Fireburn, Madame Pommery and Pavitra in arrears.

North Star Lass, who has contested Stakes races at 10 of her 11 career starts, is out of the three-times Stakes placed mare Sheila’s Star (Snitzel) and is from the family of G1 winning sprinter Instant Celebrity and Hong Kong star Happy Healthy.

She shares the distinction of being a Group winning 3YO daughter of Zoustar with an elite line-up of fillies, made up of Sunlight, Zougotcha, Kiku, Olentia, Zoudancer and Sisstar.

“She’s got a great temperament, a great constitution, a great appetite for work and has shown a great mental capacity to handle the pressure which is a feature of being trained to be a top-class 2YO and 3YO in Sydney,’’ co-trainer Adrian Bott said,

“She’s got natural speed and her up-front racing pattern was her real asset, as well as her class which obviously got her to a G2 win and a G1 placing.

“We probably never really got to see the very best of her, but fortunately we saw enough of her to know she was right at that top level.

“She was one of the top fillies of her generation, she beat them on certain occasions and was never beaten far when they got the better of her. Her record really is against the best and she more than held her own.’’

Inglis Digital Business Manager Nick Melmeth added: “North Star Lass proved herself one of the best fillies of an elite crop and it’s a privilege to be offering her for sale on behalf of her ownership group via Inglis Digital.

“Inglis Digital continues to be the most reliable and trustworthy online sales platform in Australia with technology our clients can have confidence in.”

North Star Lass is available for inspection by appointment. For more information, please contact Nick Melmeth or Sebastian Hutch.

Entries for the September (Early) Online Sale close at midnight Wednesday.

The sale will run from Friday-Wednesday, September 8-13.
