“From his experience in Hong Kong, Ian has already established many great connections and relationships with our clients and understands the importance of the market.

“He is very familiar with the quality of product New Zealand produces and our success in the jurisdiction and we look forward to him growing the New Zealand and NZB brands, and relationships.”

Working closely with the wider NZB teams, Sham will be conversing with Hong Kong trainers, owners and agents as well as New Zealand Trade and Enterprise to identify opportunities in the premier racing jurisdiction.

"I am thrilled to be a part of the exceptional NZB team," commented Sham.

"Throughout the years, Hong Kong has played a significant role in the New Zealand market.

“Horses like Ambitious Dragon, Aerovelocity, Lucky Sweynesse and Golden Sixty have all been successfully sold at Karaka.

"After three years of dealing with the challenges brought about by COVID-19, it feels wonderful to reconnect with the Hong Kong market and prioritize the restoration of a strong and collaborative working relationship among vendors, trainers and owners."

Sham will take up the in-market role from early September and will support Mike Kneebone and the wider bloodstock team, alongside other international representatives.

For international enquiries, contact Mike Kneebone on +61 439 568 881 or email mike.kneebone@nzb.co.nz.
