Waterhouse and Bott Love a Pierro

Mark Smith - Thursday August 10

Pierro unearthed a likely type in the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained colt Les Vampires at Warwick Farm on Wednesday, and the leading Sydney stable sent the Pierro filly Global Pivot south to open her winning account over 1300m at Bendigo on Thursday.

With Jordan Childs in the saddle, Global Pivot, not surprisingly, made all the running to defeat the Lonhro filly Stylish by a long-neck, with the Zoustar filly Celestial Storm a length back in third.

It was start three for Global Pivot, who was coming off third behind the $1,350,000 I Am Invincible colt Andronicus at Kembla Grange.

“She is still learning her craft, and it felt like she was waiting for the others, so there is good improvement there,” Childs said.

“She seems to be a nice progressive horse.”

A homebred for Jonathon Munz’s Pinecliff Racing, Global Pivot is the third winner from four to race for the talented Redoute’s Choice mare Global Balance, winner of the Group III SAJC Auraria Stakes and Listed TTC Tasmanian Oaks.

The dam of Global Balance, Balance of Nature (Storm Cat, is a half-sister to champion miler and successful sire Spinning World (USA).

Bhima Thoroughbreds consigned a sister to Global Pivot to the recent Inglis Australian Weanling Sale, where she fell short of his $60,000 reserve.

Global Balance visited Dundeel last spring.

Pierro's day improved when he quinelled the 3-Y-O & Up Maiden Plate (1600m) with the 4yo mare Roadie and the 4yo gelding North Channel.

Another winner for Jordan Childs, the Andrew Noblet-trained Roadie, opened her account by three and a quarter lengths at start three.

“She will get a mile and a quarter, a mile and a half,” Noblet said.

“She was lovely and relaxed today and is going the right way.”
