Registrations Open for Inaugural Racing NSW Equimillion Event

Racing NSW and Equestrian Australia today announced that registrations were officially open for the inaugural $1 million Equimillion equestrian competition exclusively for retired Thoroughbred racehorses.

Equimillion will be held at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre on the October Long Weekend – September 30 to October 2.

Calling all retired thoroughbreds to consider the Equimillion!

Entries are open for all retired NSW Thoroughbred Racehorses via the Equimillion website www.equimillion.com.au

Over $1 million of prizemoney will be distributed across Eventing, Showjumping, Dressage and Show horse disciplines, offering competitors of all abilities the chance to earn never before seen prizemoney.

Each discipline will include classes for junior, amateur and open professional competitors, with total prizemoney of $30,000 per class and prizemoney paid down to 5th place in each class. A minimum of 44 classes will be conducted.

Racing NSW is partnering with Equestrian Australia to deliver this exciting competition showcasing the athleticism and adaptability of the Thoroughbred horse for a career after racing.

Racing NSW Chairman Russell Balding AO said: “Equimillion has the potential to become The Everest of the equestrian world and will be a game changer in terms of providing an enhanced future life for retired thoroughbred racehorses.”

Equestrian Australia CEO, Darren Gocher said: “We are thrilled to partner with Racing NSW on this exciting initiative. Horse welfare is central to everything we do. Equimillion will bring significant publicity to the suitability of ex-racehorses for second careers in various equestrian disciplines, whilst providing a wonderful opportunity for our members to compete at what promises to be a spectacular event.
