Third Stakes-Winner for Blue Point

Darley shuttler Blue Point (IRE) is riding the crest of a winning wave with his first Northern Hemisphere bred two year-olds and added a third stakes-winner to his tally when exciting colt Rosallion landed the Listed Pat Eddery Stakes (7f) at Ascot.

Trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Sean Levey, Rosallion won his debut at Newbury last month and was ultra impressive when surging away from his rivals to make it two out of two with this facile four length victory.

 

“He's a good horse, we always thought he was a good horse and he's my [G1 2000] Guineas horse,” said Richard Hannon.

“The further he goes, the better he goes. He's in the [G1 Vincent O'Brien] National Stakes in Ireland and will obviously be in the [G1] Dewhurst. He's not a small horse, he has loads of scope and he behaves like a very good horse. We're thinking about next year.”

A homebred for Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, Rosallion is the second winner from Rosaline, an unraced sibling by New Approach to Group I winners Triple Time and Ajman Princess, Group winners Ostillio and Cape Byron and stakes-winners Third Realm and Captain Winters.

He is the third stakes-winner among 23 first crop winners for Blue Point, who returns to Darley Victoria this spring at a fee of $44,000 and will have his first Australian runners next season
