First Foal for Gilgai Farm and First for Pinatubo

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday July 25

One of Victoria’s most successful boutique broodmare farms, proven Group I nursery Gilgai Farm have released an image of their first foal of the season and he’s also a first in Australia for Darley shuttler Pinatubo (IRE).

The chestnut colt is the sixth foal of stakes-placed Teofilo (IRE) mare Holy Cow, a half-sister to stakes-winner Ondina from the family of 2020 European Horse of the Year Ghaiyyath

Holy Cow is the dam of a winner Plus Fours, but has a bit in the pipeline as her unraced two year-old colt by Written By sold for $260,000 and her yearling colt by the same sire sold for $410,000 at Inglis Premier this year Ciaron Maher Bloodstock / Best Bloodstock.

She also has a yearling filly by I Am Invincible, so things could definitely be on the up for Holy Cow, who was one of the first mares covered last spring by Pinatubo.

Pinatubo (IRE).

A Champion 2YO by Shamardal, Pinatubo is a triple Group I winner up to 1600m and is from the family of champion sires Invincible Spirit and Kodiac. He covered 131 mares last year and returns to Darley NSW at a fee of $55,000.
