Following a pair of barrier trial wins at Lark Hill, Keshi Boom went off a short-priced favourite at her debut over 1200m at Belmont on Wednesday and got the job done with a minimum of fuss to ring up 23rd 2yo winner of the season for Spirit Of Boom.
Ridden by Willie Pike for Grant and Alana Williams, Keshi Boom made a sluggish start and had just one of the ten starters behind her on the turn.
She needed the skill of her champion rider to weave a passage down the straight to run out an impressive length and a quarter winner over the Oratorio filly Ilgiro Delmondo with the Impending gelding Cool Memory a length back in third.
Keshi Boom was a $120,000 buy for Williams Racing from the Eureka Stud draft at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale.
The daughter of Spirit Of Boom is a sister-in-blood to Prince Of Boom, a dual Group II winner of over $1.2million.
She is the third winner from as many to race for the Red Dazzler mare Perarls For Me, a half-sister to Group II Queensland Guineas winner Express Air (Piccolo), the dam of Spirit Of Boom’s Listed BRC Chief De Beers Quality winner and $846,725 earner, Simply Fly.
Pearls For Me has a weanling colt by Encryption and was covered by Dubious last spring.
With just two weeks of the season to run, Eureka Stud’s Spirit Of Boom looks like a lock for the leading sire of 2yo winners.
