Another Winner for Brave Smash

Tara Madgwick - Thursday July 13

Brave Smash (Jpn) gelding Mansiere was first past the post at Werribee last month before losing the race on protest, but he made no mistakes at Bendigo on Thursday to salute as a well backed favourite.

Trained by Nick Ryan, Mansiere finished fourth in a metro race last December on debut and has been second at his two runs back this preparation so was fit and ready to go for this 1100m maiden.

He dashed away turning for home and was strong to the line winning by three lengths in a dominant display.

“He did it very easy and had a couple of lengths up his sleeve, he’s a horse going places,” said winning rider Rhys Mcleod.

A $50,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Lustre Lodge draft for Express Racing / Nick Ryan Racing, Mansiere was bred by Australian Bloodstock, whose colours were carried in his two Australian Group I wins by his sire Brave Smash.

Mansiere is the third winner from three foals to race from Double Dee, a metro winning half-sister by Dubleo (USA) to Cox Plate winning G1 sire Shamus Award.

Mansiere is the 11th first crop winner for Brave Smash, the leading Australian first crop sire by winners.
