Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday July 4

There were just four heats for juveniles at Rosehill on Tuesday morning, but we did see two fillies that finished third and fourth in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic back in January.

Infatuation won at Randwick before Christmas - image Steve Hart

The Bjorn Baker trained I Am Invincible filly Infatuation was a busy girl over the late spring and summer starting five times for a Randwick win, a second in the $1million Golden Gift to Barber and a fourth in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic. She was spelled after that and looked sharp in her return, jumping smoothly for Rachel King to lead all the way under a hold winning by a long head.

Also worth watching in the heat Summer Loving, who was third in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and travelled wide all the way in this heat and surged to the line held together.

A $400,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Yarraman Park draft, Infatuation was bought by MyRacehorse/Bjorn Baker Racing/Clarke Bloodstock Pty Ltd so has a big group of owners involved with the micro shares sold by My Racehorse in whose colours she runs. Her breeder Gall Bloodstock is also in the ownership and if she can win a stakes race going forward will become a valuable broodmare for the future.

tuation is a half-sister to another smart juvenile in Gotta Kiss, who was second in a Group I BRC JJ Atkins and is from stakes-placed Strada mare Sweet Kiss.

The quickest of the four heats was won by the Gary Portelli trained Capitalist gelding Encap, who was having his second trial this preparation and was fitted with blinkers for the first time. He was sent to the line by Louise Day to win by a neck in a second quicker time than Infatuation.

Encap had one start in his first prep for a third to Amazonian Lass and Stanislaus at Warwick Farm and might be well placed in a maiden before the season ends to give Capitalist another 2YO winner.

Encap was a $200,000 Inglis Easter purchase.

Encap was a $200,000 Inglis Easter purchase for his trainer from the Newhaven Park draft and is from Group III winning Stratum mare Enquare.

Additional heat winners were: Boston Rocks (Hellbent), Woolowin (Capitalist).
