New French Stakes-Winner for Starspangledbanner

Tara Madgwick - Monday July 3

Returning to Coolmore Australia this spring, Starspangledbanner posted a new stakes-winner on Sunday in France with three year-old filly Exxtra taking out the Listed Prix Kistena (1200m) at Deauville.

Trained by Carlos and Yann Lerner, Exxtra had been most competitive in several Black Type races and was over due for a win scoring a length and a quarter victory, her third win from 11 starts with two more placings.

Exxtra is the best of three winners from three to race from Rolling Stone , a placed Raven’s Pass half-sister to the dam of triple US Group I winner Raging Bull.

Exxtra is the 31st stakes-winner for Starspangledbanner, a champion Australian bred sprinter by Choisir that has built a global reputation as a sire. He has sired stakes-winners in eight different countries and his six Group I winners have been successful in Australia, Hong Kong, USA, Great Britain and France.

Starspangledbanner stands at a fee of $33,000.
