Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Friday June 9

Trial action in Sydney was at Warwick Farm on Friday with five heats for juveniles and winners included a homebred for Jonathan Munz by Pierro and an expensive filly by I Am Invincible.

The Pinecliff Racing colours carried by Giga Kick were in the frame on the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Pierro filly Global Pivot. She mustered quickly to lead at her second trial and first this prep and was not pushed out to the line to win by half a head. Worth noting the late closing run of Extreme Choice colt Extreme Spirit, who showed plenty of potential in his first prep and could easily be one of those well above average juveniles that wins a few late season races taking a fitness edge into the early spring stakes races. Black Book for him.

al Pivot was passed in as a weanling and retained. She is the sixth foal of Group III winning Redoute’s Choice mare Global Balance, who was also bred and raced by Jonathan Munz, but has been a disappointing producer so far with four foals to race for just one winner. Global Pivot is her first foal from a mating with Pierro, a sire who has a great record with Redoute’s Choice, so hopefully she can improve on what we’ve seen to date from her dam.

The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace trained I Am Invincible filly Estriella was having her second trial and showed good improvement from the first last month. Restrained early on that occasion and taught to settle before surging home, this time she was allowed to use more tactical speed from an inside draw to sit on the pace and travelled well to the line to win by a length in the quickest time for the 2YO heats.

She was a $750,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Ciaron Maher Bloodstock from the Arrowfield Stud draft and is the third foal of blueblood Lonhro mare Madrigals, a once raced sister to Champion 2YO and Champion sire Pierro.

Estriella was a $750,000 Inglis Easter yearling.

Additional heat winners were: Bucarelli Bay (US Navy Flag (USA), Relatives (Lonhro) and Wembley (Vancouver).
