A major attraction of the sale is the fact that 61 of the 70 broodmares in the catalogue are being offered in foal. They have been served by a broad cross-section of sires – many of whom have earned significantly increased service fees for the upcoming season.

  • Proisir’s service fee has risen from $17,500 to $70,000 after an extraordinary season. He has dominated the New Zealand sires’ premiership with close to $4m in earnings, and he has sired Group One winners Dark Destroyer (NZ), Pier (NZ), Legarto (NZ), Levante (NZ) and Prowess (NZ). Rosaleen Dubh (NZ) (Showcasing), who is catalogued as Lot 237, is being offered in foal to Proisir.
  • The fee for Satono Aladdin has risen from $12,500 to $45,000 after a season that has produced Group One Australian Oaks (2400m) and New Zealand Oaks (2400m) heroine Pennyweka (NZ), as well as Karaka Million (1200m) winner Tokyo Tycoon (NZ). Lots 207 and 224 are being offered in foal to Satono Aladdin.
  • After producing Australian Group One winners Jungle Magnate (NZ) and Gypsy Goddess (NZ) from his first three-year-old crop, Tarzino’s service fee has jumped from $15,000 to $25,000. A total of 11 mares are being offered in foal to Tarzino.
  • Lot 187 is being offered in foal to Staphanos, who sired Group One Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) winner Pignan (NZ) in his first two-year-old crop this season and has seen his service fee rise from $7,000 to $15,000.

There is also significant interest around the mares in foal to newcomers to the stallion ranks.

Aided by the Ferguson dispersal, Cambridge Stud’s Sword Of State has eight mares being offered in foal to him. By Snitzel out of a Group Two-placed Encosta De Lago mare, Sword Of State won six races including the Group One Sistema Stakes (1200m) and was New Zealand’s champion two-year-old in 2020-21.

There are also two mares being offered in foal to Noverre (NZ). A son of champion sire Savabeel, Noverre has returned to his birthplace to stand alongside his father at Waikato Stud. Bought by Te Akau Racing’s David Ellis for $800,000 as a yearling at Karaka, Noverre won three of his seven starts including a spectacular last-to-first performance in the Group One New Zealand 2000 Guineas (1600m).
