Aussie Thoroughbred Qualifies for Paris Olympics

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday June 6

With our Australian thoroughbred sprinters about to embark for Royal Ascot later this week, another Aussie thoroughbred has already made his mark in Europe ahead of them with the Millstreet International Horse Trials in Ireland last weekend won by Bold Venture and Shenae Lowings, who featured in a recent episode of Thoroughbreds Are Go.

Caroline Searcy was in Adelaide for their world renowned Equestrian Festival in April with the 5 star three day event at the show being one of only seven in the world run at that level.

Lowings and Bold Venture took the prize at Victoria Park and continued their good form in Ireland leading their rivals after the dressage and then jumping clear in both cross country and showjumping to claim individual victory, while the Australian team featuring Shane Rose, Andrew Hoy and Kevin McNab also finished as winners earning qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Shenae Lowings and her partner Sam Woods are great supporters of Australian thoroughbreds and when not travelling the world have been busy establishing a breaking and pre-training business just outside of Sydney on a property leased from their mentor Shane Rose.

Bold Venture came to Lowings following an unremarkable racetrack career that saw Hell on Wheels, as he was known back then, start three times in Western Australia for little result.

The 12 year-old gelding is now at the height of his powers in his new career as an eventer and should enjoy much success in years to come.
