Pride of Dubai Mare Wins G2 Lanwades Stud Stakes

Tara Madgwick - Monday May 29

An impressive Listed and Group III winner at three, five year old Pride of Dubai mare Just Beautiful fetched 625,000 guineas at the 2021 Tattersalls December Mares Sale when bought by BBA Ireland and posted her first win for the new connections when taking out the Group II Lanwades Stud Stakes (1m) at The Curragh on Sunday.

Below par in two runs last year for the Paddy Twomey stable, Just Beautiful rediscovered her best form in the Moyglare Stud colours to race away and win by more than two lengths at her second run this year taking her overall record to six wins from 11 starts.

uo;Just Beautiful needed the run the last day and on soft ground she can't function. She's in the Duke Of Cambridge at Royal Ascot but anything from six to a mile on fast ground suits,” said Paddy Twomey.

Bought for a bargain 8,000 guineas originally  from the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 3, Just Beautiful has had a big pedigree update since then as she is now the half-sister to 2022 Group I Belmont Oaks winner McKulick as well as Group II winner Fearless King being from Group III placed Astrelle, a half-sister by Makfi to Group II winner Porsenna and stakes-winner Basileus.

Her second dam is by Hussonet, which is somewhat unusual for a European pedigree, but his blood is quite prevalent  in Australia so it’s worth noting.

Pride of Dubai has enjoyed a real resurgence this year in Australia siring seven Australian stakes-winners, plus one in New Zealand, headed by his Group I winners Dubai Honour (IRE) and Bella Nipotina.
