$1.15 Million for Giza Goddess in Foal to I Am Invincible

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday May 24

The third million dollar mare on Wednesday at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale was offered  in the Newgate Consignment and gorgeous grey mare Giza Goddess (USA) had the added appeal of a positive test to I Am Invincible.

A Group placed juvenile stakes-winner that was also fourth in Group I Santa Anita American Oaks, Giza Goddess comes from a proven Black Type US family and is in foal in her first season at stud.

Her striking  grey almost roan colouring comes through her sire Cairo Prince, whose dam is by the great grey champion Holy Bull, the US Champion 3YO Colt and Horse of the Year in 1994.

She was bought by Clarke Bloodstock for $1.15million, but Jim Clarke did not reveal his client.

“She’s a gorgeous mare, physically she was just beautiful,” Clarke said.

“It’s obviously a lovely cover to our champion stallion and these American mares have proven themselves of being very good producers here in Australian, so we’re delighted with her.

“She had a different profile, there’s a small number of those elite mares in-foal to that horse at the sale.

“We’ve seen yearlings out of these really sharp American mares sell really well the past few years but not only sell well, but race really well.

“The beautiful thing about her and her pedigree is we’ve got unlimited options as to what she will go to this coming season. But it’ll certainly be one of the best stallions in the country, that’s for sure.”

Giza Goddess continues the success of the Newgate Consignment at this sale.

There are only five mares in the sale in foal to Yarraman Park’s champion sire I Am Invincible with Piping Hot selling for $3million on Tuesday and the remaining three mares will be offered on Thursday.
