First Stakes-Winner for Sea Siren

Tara Madgwick - Sunday May 21

Coolmore have sent a number of high profile Australian mares to Ireland over the years to be covered by Galileo and one of them was triple Group I winning Fastnet Rock sprinter Sea Siren, who is now back in Australia and was covered last spring by Home Affairs.

She produced six foals by Galileo in her time in the Northern Hemisphere and the fifth of them is three year-old filly Warm Heart, who won the Listed Newbury Fillies Trial Stakes (1m2f) overnight.

Trained by Aidan O’Brien and ridden by Ryan Moore, Warm Heart beat the race favourite Bluestocking (Juddmonte homebred by Camelot)  by a head and has now won  two of four starts and hold entries for upcoming Group I races and the Group II Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot.

“Ryan was delighted with Warm Heart, who is an improving and versatile filly. The ground was soft when she won in Ireland, but it was quicker today and she gets the ten furlongs well, but could step up to a mile and a half. Races like the Ribblesdale are there for her,” said owners representative Paul Smith.

Heart has a Group III placed full sister called Celestial Object and is the best of three winners from four foals to race so far from Sea Siren, who has an unraced two year-old Galileo colt in Ireland and produced a colt by Camelot in Australia last spring.

The family of Sea Siren has been making headlines in Australia with the $1million Group I SAJC Robert Sangster Stakes winner Ruthless Dame adding further lustre to the page.

Warm Heart is a grand-daughter of Express a Smile, who is the third dam of Ruthless Dame, who heads next to the Group I BRC Stradbroke Handicap.

The reverse cross of Fastnet Rock over daughters of Galileo also produced a stakes-winner overnight with five year-old gelding Fenelon claiming his second Black Type win when taking out the Listed Prix Bedel (2400m) at Lyon Parilly.

He scored by a length and a quarter and has won five of 10 starts.
