Sixth Winner for Brave Smash- Leading First Crop Sire by Winners

Tara Madgwick - Friday May 5

Kris Lees is never afraid to take a smart juvenile to the country to break the ice and he unleashed Brave Smash (Jpn) filly La Boqueria at Coffs Harbour on Friday for an easy win.

Sixth on debut at Warwick Farm last month, La Boqueria was a short priced favourite for the 1010m maiden and despite being the only two year-old in the field ran out a comfortable length and a half winner.

A $60,000 Magic Millions March Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase for Prime Thoroughbreds from the Kenmore Lodge draft, La Boqueria is the first winner for Rambla de Flores, a half-sister by Street Cry (IRE) to stakes-placed Angelus from stakes-winner Great Anna.

She is the sixth winner for Brave Smash and three of those winners are Black Type horses with Brave Mead a stakes-winner and Kimochi and Brave Strike both Group placed, while three time winner Brave Halo was fourth in the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes.

Brave Smash (Jpn)

Brave Smash joins the Yarraman Park roster this spring at a fee of $33,000 and with six winners is the leading first crop sire by winners this season .
