Queensland will gain only its second son of the great Redoute’s Choice when dual Group winner Pariah transfers to Oaklands Stud for the 2023 breeding season. He will stand at a fee of $8,800 inc. GST.
With two crops of racing age Pariah is already among the 40 stakes-siring sons of Redoute’s Choice, thanks to juvenile Group 2 winner Swiss Exile. Stakes-placed fillies Vagrant & Runaway Belle, 18 other winners and more than 200 rising 2YOs & yearlings give Pariah a solid platform for further success.
Jon Freyer, Bloodstock Manager of Arrowfield Stud, where Pariah has stood his first five seasons, says, “We’re delighted to place Pariah with Oaklands which can offer him at a new price-point to breeders who haven’t had the opportunity to use him.
“He has well over a hundred yearlings and the same number of foals coming through, many out of outstanding mares such as Group winners Fenway, Ocean Challenger, Always Alison and Restless Soul, and half-relations to Group winners Sizzling, Wild Rain and Dubious. So he has plenty of nice stock to represent him in coming seasons.”
Forty-eight of the 51 yearlings offered to date from Pariah’s 2021 crop have sold for up to $100,000 and buyers include Annabel Neasham, Michael Hickmott and Andrew Campbell, Danny O’Brien, Griffiths De Kock Racing & Malua Bloodstock.
Bred by Arrowfield & partners from the city-winning mare Secluded (by Hussonet), Pariah is a three-quarter brother to the Group 1-winning sprinter Melito, from the family of leading sire Zeditave. Noted judge James Harron purchased him for $700,000 at Inglis Easter and sent him to Peter & Paul Snowden who later said, “From his first gallop Pariah was just the most natural two-year-old.”
He won the Canonbury S. G3 on debut followed by runner-up finishes in the Blue Diamond Prelude G3 and, after racing three wide without cover, in the Blue Diamond S. G1. Pariah returned as a Spring three-year-old to overcome an awkward draw and win the San Domenico S. G3, then filled second spot behind Menari in the Run to the Rose H. G2.
Oaklands Stud principal Neville Stewart says, “We are thrilled to welcome Pariah to our stallion roster in 2023. As a progressive young son of Redoute's Choice with great work in progress he presents a terrific opportunity for Queensland breeders.”
