$4million Quokka Field Announced - Then Redrawn

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday April 11

Group I racing continues at Randwick this Saturday, but the richest race in Australia this weekend will be the inaugural $4million WATC The Quokka (1200m) at Ascot in Perth with local superstar filly Amelia’s Jewel up against half a dozen eastern states raiders.

Beaten only once in eight starts, Amelia’s Jewel is the only three year-old in the race and has drawn gate 14 in the redraw with her regular partner Patrick Carbery to ride.

Uncommon James won the G1 Oakleigh Plate two starts back and was a close second in the Group I ATC The Galaxy with Asfoora competitive in both of those races finishing third and fourth, while Bella Nipotina heads to Perth off a last start second in the G1 William Reid Stakes.

Kementari and Overpass are both resuming from a spell, the latter having been gelded since his last appearance when sixth of 12 in The Everest, while his stablemate Shades of Rose will be able to take full use of gate one and hopefully show the dazzling speed that has won her seven of 12 starts.
