First Winner for Blue Point

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday April 11

Darley shuttler Blue Point (IRE) has been one of the most popular first season sires at Australian yearling sales this year and the Royal Ascot hero is off the mark with his first winner in Europe.

The Archie Watson trained colt Action Point was a well supported favourite in the juvenile event at Kempton on Monday and drew clear for a length and a half win under Hollie Doyle on the all weather track.

t;He's always been naturally very speedy and it's a great start for Blue Point," Doyle said afterwards.

"I've ridden him quite a lot at home, he's very switched off but he comes alive when he needs to."

Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock and bought back for 45,000gns at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 2, Action Point is the first winner for unraced Exceed and Excel mare Khaleesi Wind, a full sister to stakes-winner Excellete, the dam of stakes-winner Well Done Fox.

Blue Point

Action Point is expected to be the first of many European first crop winners as Blue Point has over 150 foals in his first NH crop and has been installed favourite to be leading first season sire by winners.

At Australasian yearling sales, Blue Point has had 48 yearlings sell at an average $214,635 with his top sellers listed below.
