First Winner for Calyx

Tara Madgwick - Thursday April 6

A brilliant Group II winning sprinter by Kingman, Calyx (GB) shuttled to Coolmore Australia for just two seasons and sired his first winner overnight in France.

Two year-old filly Classic Flower ran out a convincing debut winner at Salon-de-Provence.

The Patrice Cottier-trained first starter was sent off favourite over the minimum trip and was soon settled behind the leaders by Marvin Grandin.  She was strong to the line winning by half a length.

Bred by Petches Farm, Classic Flower is owned by Jean-Etienne Dubois and Ecurie Hunter Valley and is the first winner for Crown of Flowers, a half-sister by Garswood to stakes-winner Bahia Breeze.

Calyx (GB)

Calyx has had yearlings sell for up to $230,000 in Australia this year with Mulcaster Bloodstock/Chris Waller Racing Pty Ltd securing his highest priced youngster, a colt from Without Saying at Magic Millions.
