Second Stakes-Winner for Written By

Tara Madgwick - Saturday April 1

Widden Stud’s promising young sire Written By posted his second stakes-winner in Perth on Saturday when speedy colt Ripcord made a winning debut in the Listed WATC Perth Stakes (1100m).

Trained by Luke Fernie, Ripcord did best in a competitive finish to beat the race favourite Alotofbanter by half a length.

Ripcord was a $40,000 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale purchase for his trainer from the Barador Stud draft and collected over $82,000 for his debut success.

He is the first stakes-winner among three winners from Single in London, a four time winning three-quarter sister-in-blood by Not a Single Doubt to Group I placed Group III winner Faraway Town from the family of Group I winner Only a Lady.

Ripcord is the third winner and second stakes-winner for Written By, who has two fillies entered for Inglis Easter and you can see them here.
