Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

There were five heats for juveniles run at Rosehill on Monday with some interesting unraced winners and the appearance of a couple of high class fillies in Autumn Ballet and Lazzago, who look on target for The Championships.

There was one heat run at 1050m and it was won by Dundeel colt Tannhauser, who had the blinkers on this time after disappointing at his second run following a good debut third at Canterbury on February 17.

 

There might be two of the Chris Waller trained Tannhauser, but this was the good one and he kicked clear under James McDonald to win by three lengths.

Dundeel is having  a very busy season with seven 2YO winners so far and Tannhauser can add to that if his mind stays on the job.

Tannhauser was a $425,000 Magic Millions purchase from Milburn Creek, who bred and sold a nice Dundeel 2YO winner at Wyong on Saturday in Townsend.

 

Group winning fillies Autumn Ballet and Lazzago, both hit the line hard in their trial held together finishing second and third to the Bjorn Baker trained Russian Revolution filly Line of Law, who has also shown talent in her two starts.

 

Third in the Max Lees Classic and sixth in the Inglis Nursery, Line of Law is  going to look well placed in a metro maiden.

 

Unraced colts filled the placings in this heat and the Bjorn Baker trained Russian Revolution colt Oscar Charlie looked to enjoy the soft ground for an easy win over well-bred late closing The Autumn Sun colts Matusalem and Influential.

 

Retained to race by Newgate after passing in as a yearling, Oscar Charlie finished second in his previous two trials behind Red Resistance and Shinzo, so keep an eye out for him when he accepts for something.

He’s the second foal of speedy stakes-winner Lady Sniper from a fast running family made famous by Fred Peisah of Lomar Park, hard not see him as a winner!

 

Blue-blood I Am Invincible filly Mathkhoora was thrown into the deep end by Team Hawkes on debut finishing a long last of four behind Learning to Fly in the G2 Reisling, but did everything right here and will take confidence from this good experience.

 

An Emirates Park homebred from their Golden Slipper winner Mossfun,Mathkhoora had a yearling full brother sell for $1.65million at Magic Millions this year.

 

A couple of unraced colts from the Waller stable in Tellez and Armed Forces fought out the finish of this heat and the winner is by first season sire Harry Angel (IRE).

 

Tellez had one soft trial last December and was a lot more switched on this time around and is from a fast family being from Azeema, a winning Fastnet Rock daughter of Azumi, an unraced full sister to Champion Filly Alinghi.
