The Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale tends to be dominated by big gun Queensland sires Spirit of Boom and Better Than Ready and while they were the leading sires by aggregate they had to settle for second and third on the sire averages list behind Written By.
Widden Stud’s Blue Diamond winning son of Written Tycoon proved popular at the sale with all four yearlings offered selling at an average $80,000.
His top seller was a colt from Chroma that was offered by Lucas Bloodstock and purchased by Livistona Grazing Company for $120,000.
He is the third foal of an unraced Lonhro half-sister to Group II winner Knight’s Tour that is from the family of Champion 2YO and Champion Sire Pierro.
Written By has had a couple of smart winners in Queensland with The Novelist winning the Group III BRC BJ McLachlan Stakes and Sunday Mail bolting in at Ipswich.
