Talented Deep Field filly Beauty Rising produced a strong finishing burst for Jamie Kah at Sandown on Wednesday to run down the leader and score a popular win as favourite.
The Phillip Stokes trained filly was second on debut at Moonee Valley back in December to Croatian Belle and was then seventh in the Group II MRC Blue Diamond Prelude to Exploring.
She enjoyed the step up to 1200m and hit the line hard to win by a length.
“I was very impressed by her today as she’s probably come to the end of it and you could see that behind the gates where she took a bit of loading… but full credit to the filly, she’s a tough customer and she has an exciting future,” said Phillip Stokes.
“I’m looking forward to her going to the paddock now and then we can look at some nice races in the spring.”
A $160,000 Magic Millions purchase for Bennett Racing from the Kingstar Farm draft, Beauty Rising is a half-sister to stakes-placed Miss Moana and Hollywood Mo and is the sixth winner from terrific producer Coral Reef.
By champion sire Galileo, Coral Reef is a grand-daughter of Group I Irish Oaks winner Knight’s Baroness, so Beauty Rising may well get over a bit of ground as her career unfolds.
Kingstar Farm sold a weanling three-quarter brother by Cosmic Force to Beauty Rising last year for $190,000 and when he was re-offered at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale earlier this year by Sledmere Stud the colt was snapped up by Bennett Racing for $250,000!
