Glenthorne Park Stud’s young sire Sebring Sun is quietly building a tidy record with promising two year-old filly Acappella Moon scoring a metro win at Morphettville on Saturday at her second start.
Trained by Clayton Douglas, Acappella Moon was having her first run back from a spell after a debut fifth behind Zulfiqar in the Listed VRC Maribyrnong Trial in the spring.
She kicked away in the straight and held on to win by a head in the 1000m dash.
Acappella Moon was bred and retained to race by Steve Kirkham, who also bred her sire Sebring Sun.
She is a full sister to Acappella Sun, another handy winner that was also fourth in the Listed Scone Woodlands Stud Stakes and is the second winner from In Unison, a winning Encosta de Lago mare from the family of Group I winners Vouvray, A Touch of Ruby and Loire.
In Unison has a yearling colt by Sebring Sun and was one of 32 mares he covered last spring at a fee of $4,950.
A stakes-winning son of Sebring, Sebring Sun has now sired eight winners from 13 starters with his oldest progeny just three year-olds and three of the winners are current season two year-olds.
