Slick 2YO Winner for All American

Media Release - Wednesday October 11

All American's best quality crop has just turned two and the season has started accordingly.

Crockett landed South Australia's first two-year-old race of the 2017/18 season, producing an impressive display in the James Boag's Plate (1000m).

All AmericanWayne Mitchell, of McEvoy-Mitchell Racing, picked the colt out at the 2017 Magic Million Gold Coast Sales and paid $180,000 to purchase the All American look-alike.Crockett was backed from $2 to start $1.75 favourite. Ridden by Jamie Kah, the exciting colt accelerated strongly up the home straight to score by 1-3/4 lengths.

McEvoy said the excellent way Crockett hit the line indicated he might be worth a trip to Melbourne during the spring carnival.

"We'll see how he comes through the race but, on that effort, he looks worthy of a chance in a tougher race.

"On his breeding, you would think he would be even better next preparation and as a three-year-old – and over more ground."

All American was a 2YO Group Winner himself before running second in the Blue Diamond and had his first 2YO runner of the season, Now Or Never in last weeks Gimcrack Stakes in Sydney. A bright future may be ahead of her as well after a promising 4th, 2 lengths behind Satin Slipper.

All American has 26 named 2YO's on the Studbook so far and they've landed in the leading stables of Lindsay Park (4), Darren Weir (3), Tony McEvoy (2), Busuttin and Young, Kris Lees, Gary Portelli, Gerald Ryan, David Payne etc.

He is also the sire of former star filly Yankee Rose, recently crowned Australia's Champion 3YO Filly for 2016/2017
