NSW owner breeders Rob and Pam Crosby had a lot of fun with their former classy homebred Snitzel mare Sylvia’s Mother and she delivered the goods for them again at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale on Sunday when her first foal sold for $550,000.
A stylish colt by Written Tycoon, he was consigned by Berkeley Park Stud and purchased by Tony Fung Investments/ Annabel Neasham Racing.
Sylvia’s Mother was bred by the Crosby’s and trained by Team Hawkes winning seven races from 13 starts including four wins in succession.
She scored highlight Group III wins in the VRC Frances Tressady Stakes and MRC Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes before retiring to stud in 2020 with earnings topping $455,000.
Sylvia’s Mother has a colt to follow by Wootton Bassett (GB) and was covered last spring by Too Darn Hot (GB).
The Crosby’s sold Sylvia’s Mother’s dam Found the One in 2021 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for $200,000 and the Bel Esprit mare is now with Arrowfield Stud. They sold a Trapeze Artist colt from the mare at Magic Millions this year for $180,000 to Hayfields Racing/Intel Bloodstock.
