Vinery to Cheer Saltaire

The $500,000 Inglis Nursery in December was won by brilliant Star Turn filly Saltaire, who will take her place in the $2million Inglis Millennium on Saturday at Randwick.

A $140,000 Inglis Classic purchase for the Kitchwin Hills team from the Vinery Stud draft, Saltaire has already won nearly $300,000 in prizemoney and the John O’Shea trained filly will have the services of Kerrin McEvoy to help offset her awkward barrier.

She steamed home in a recent barrier trial for fourth and if she can get some cover in the run Saltaire could make it interesting for the favourites.

“Saltaire was a lovely style of filly which we sold at the Classic sale last year. She wasn’t overly big at the time, but she possessed a great amount of strength and quality. I remember her having a great attitude at the sale and this is something I’m sure has helped her to get up and run early," recalled Adam White.

“We are excited to see her contest the Millennium on Saturday. It would be great result for Neil Werrett, Max Whitby and Mick Malone who bought her as a yearling. John seems to have her in peak condition and I’m sure she will be in the finish despite her wide gate.”

Vinery Stud will present a draft of 35 at Riverside Stables for Inglis Classic this year and 19 are by their resident sires All Too Hard, Casino Prince, Exceedance, Headwater, Press Statement and Star Turn.
