Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale Online

Media Release - Tuesday February 7

The sale with a proud history of producing star juveniles, Group One sprinters and future sire champions will be out to do it again with the online release of the catalogue for the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale.

A quality line up of 385 lots will be up for sale at the Bundall Sales Complex across two days - March 20 and 21.

Better Than Ready

The progeny of over 80 individual sires feature in the catalogue. The most represented is Skirt the Law's red hot sire Better Than Ready with 44 youngsters set to go under the hammer.

"The Gold Coast March Yearling Sale has a wonderful record of producing high class gallopers over many years," Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch noted.

"Whether its a globetrotting sprinting superstar like Buffering, a champion sire like Spirit of Boom or a Group One star like Apache Chase - it's the success of graduates that makes it one of the most popular in the country."

"The 2022 sale graduates are already proving their worth on the track – with last year's sale topper, The Instructor, unbeaten to date and looking one of the big chances in the Blue Diamond Stakes."

All lots offered have been subject to the first payment for QTIS and buyers will have the opportunity to scoop $73,300 (colts and geldings) and $85,550 (fillies) every Saturday for a Queensland metropolitan two and three-year-old win for fully paid QTIS gallopers.

NSW based buyers and owners will be delighted with the quality line up of 99 lots who are BOBS eligible – youngsters by 46 individual sires.

Paid up QTIS yearlings get to race in more feature events across Queensland than others – headlined by races including the $500,000 QTIS 2YO Jewel as well as the $500,000 QTIS 3YO Jewel at the Gold Coast (this year at Doomben).

Buyers at the 2023 Gold Coast March Yearling Sale will have the added incentive of the only sale to offer a discount on the Magic Millions Race Series nomination fee to make their purchase eligible for the rocketing suite of graduate races held across six states of Australia with well in excess of $18m in prizemoney over 26 races in 2023/24 racing season, followed by more than $20m across 28 races in 2024/25.

The $1 million Racing Queensland Magic Millions QTIS Open, won earlier this year by Alpine Edge (Better Than Ready), is an ideal target each year for graduates. And in a major boost it was recently announced the feature will receive a 50% prizemoney injection, with the race to be run for $1.5m annually from January 2025.
