Classic Success for Valiant Stud

At the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale last year, Valiant Stud had the honour of selling the highest priced filly of the sale and on Monday, Tulsi made a winning debut in New Zealand.

By The Autumn Sun from Talimena, Tulsi was purchased by Glenn Burrows Bloodstock for $550,000 on behalf of New Zealand based owner Gary Harding and is trained by Johno Benner and Hollie Wynyard. Read more about her debut win here.

“It’s brilliant to see Tulsi win on debut for her connections,” said Fergal Connolly of Valiant Stud.

“We have all recognised her outstanding qualities since very early on. It’s all well and good having a masterpiece but for them to be successful it makes it all the more rewarding.

“Her breeder Lloyd Walker has been with Valiant Stud since the beginning and to achieve results like this with friends is very satisfying.”

Lot 5 Colt Cosmic Force x Quick’s the Word, by Shamardal (USA)

 

From the first crop of Deep Field’s brilliant sprinter Cosmic Force and is a half-brother to stakes-winner Dragonstone and metro winner Stormborn. The 2YO from the mare is also promising with Storm the Ramparts (2c Headwater) finishing third at his first start in the $500,000 Magic Millions Debut.

 

Lot 35 Colt So You Think x Sauvignon, by Pierro

 

Second foal of a young Pierro mare, whose dam is a three-quarter sister to Group I MRC Blue Diamond winner Catchy. The first foal from the mare is promising 2YO Chilled (2f Shalaa (IRE), who has placed third at Warwick Farm and Sunshine Coast at her only two starts.

 

Lot 50 Filly Castelvecchio x Sensibility, by Redoute’s Choice

From the first crop of dual Group I winner and Cox Plate Place-getter Castelvecchio. Half-sister to four winners and this season’s promising placed 2YO The Little Pumper (2c Shalaa (IRE), a good fourth in the Inglis Nursery. Dam is Group I placed Sensibility, a sibling to Group II winner Running Tall, stakes-winner Intrusion and to the dam of stakes-winner Commander.

 

Lot 268 Filly Invader x Ballychine (NZ), by O’Reilly

Three-quarter sister to stakes-placed Port Albert and exciting Hong Kong trained sprinter Dragon’s Luck, who has three wins and a third from just four starts with his most recent win coming at Sha Tin last Sunday when successful in a Class 3 event over 1200m.

 

Lot 653 Colt Kingman x Omneeya (GB), by Frankel

 

The only yearling in the sale by outstanding European sire Kingman and is from a placed daughter of champion sire Frankel, this nick so far producing three winners from three runners headed by stakes-winner Noble Truth. Dam is a daughter of Group I winner Amanee, a grand-daughter of champion racemare and blue hen Miesque.

 

Lot 666 Colt Dubious x Peace Palace (GB), by Archipenko


From the first crop of precocious Group II winning speedster Dubious. Half-brother to a winner from a half-sister to Group III winners Osaila, Dawn Wall and Obama rule, the dam of Group II winner Insinuendo. Third dam is Arc winner Detroit, the dam of Arc winning sire Carnegie.
