Nominations online for 2017 Missile Stakes day at Randwick

The first signs of spring will be on display at Randwick this Saturday with the running of the Group II Missile Stakes (1200m).

The Missile Stakes, a $200,000 weight-for-age contest, has only 13 nominations but includes Group I winners Le Romain and Tycoon Tara.

Le Romain and Tycoon Tara are the only Group I winners in the race and among their opposition are The Monstar for Brett Cavanough, Mick Bell's Jungle Edge, and the Kris Lees-trained Invincible Gem.

The most popular race on the program is the Benchmark 80 Handicap (1000m) for which there are 17 nominations. Gerald Ryan's Tango Rain and the Joe Pride-trained Realise Potential are due to make their return while Kris Lees Launch Code, Salerno for Paul Perry, and the Damian Lane-trained Johnny Roo Boy are looking to replicate last start victories.

Nominations for the Missile Stakes (1200m), 3YO Benchmark 70 Handicap (1200m), Benchmark 90 Handicap (1600m) have all been extended until 11am on Tuesday.
